Picked one of these up at Sportsman’s Warehouse, and it didn’t even last one trip. I was looking for a shorter fly rod for fishing high mountain streams, and this one looked perfect, and for the first little bit, it worked great.
So it broke when I went to cast my fly again, and it got snagged on a rock and the pole just snapped. I wasn’t even trying to to get the snag out, it was just a cast which requires almost zero effort.
I did catch a few fish on it at least, which put more force on the rod than the snag that broke it, which makes no sense to me. I’ve never seen a rod break with so little effort.
So if you do decide to get one, make sure you get a warranty, and register it before you use it which I didn’t do, or else you’ll be out $300 dollars.
